New Book in April ’17

02/2017 – Erdağ Göknar (MFA Poetry ’94)’s Nomadologies will be published in April 2017 by Turtle Point Press (a division of Random House). Nomadologies is a significant literary and scholarly work of poetry on Turkish diaspora and Turkish-American cultural conflict. Poet Garrett Hongo writes, “Göknar is that rarest of poets, an elegiac singer attending to the broken ark of his own beginnings.”

Göknar is the award-winning translator of Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk’s My Name is Red and Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s A Mind at Peace. Nomadologies is his first collection of poetry.

Göknar writes us that “Nomadologies was conceived when I was a student in the MFA program at U of O. At that time, Garrett identified two rough attempts as the foundation of what my poetry might become. This collection is the progeny of those poems.”
