Brian’s fiction and essays have appeared in or are forthcoming in Kenyon ReviewGettysburg Review, NarrativeNinth LetterBlack Warrior ReviewMELUS, New Ohio ReviewBrevity, and other places. His essay “My City in Two Dog Parks” was listed as Notable in Best American Essays 2013 and anthologized in Rust Belt Chic: A Cincinnati Anthology.

Honors & Awards

He was a Taft Fellow at the University of Cincinnati. He won a 2018 Oregon Arts fellowship in Nonfiction, was awarded residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Centrum, and was a Borchardt Scholar at the Sewanee Writer’s Conference. He is the former associate editor of the Cincinnati Review and the former fiction editor of Memorious: A Journal of New Verse and Fiction.
