Cashion Wins Prize in Short Fiction

07/16/2015 − Matt Cashion (MFA Fiction ’96) won the 2015 Katherine Anne Porter Prize in Short Fiction for his story collection Last Words of the Holy Ghost, judged by Lee K. Abbott. The book will be published in October (UNT Press).

Book - Last Word (Cashion)Cashion is also the author of the novel How the Sun Shines on Noise; his second novel, Our 13th Divorce will be released spring, 2016. His work has appeared in Grist: A Journal for Writers; Willow Springs, The Sun, and elsewhere. Born in North Wilkesboro, NC, he grew up in Brunswick, GA, earned an MFA at the University of Oregon and is now Associate Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
